Obtaining a Library Card

Library borrowing privileges are available at no charge to the residents of Blanco County.  Verification of residence is required to obtain a library card.  Identification can be established through a current driver’s license or other document proving residence in Blanco County.

A parent or guardian must assume responsibility for materials borrowed by a person under sixteen years of age; therefore, it is the adult’s identification that is required for registration of a minor.

Check-outs are limited to two items until the patron has established a good return history.

Patrons who live outside of Blanco County will be charged $5.00 for borrowing privileges.  These out-of-county patrons must renew their library card annually.  City employees and students attending schools in Johnson City may obtain a library card at no charge.

Fines and Fees

Patrons may check out books or audio-books for fourteen days and DVDs for 7 days with three maximum renewals. Patrons have one grace day for overdue items. The fine rate for overdue items is 20 cents per day/per item. The maximum fine that a patron can accrue is $10.00 per item. If no settlement of fines is made the cost of the item will be added to the account.

The library will attempt to recover overdue materials and will notify patrons of unpaid fines and fees. An unpaid account balance of $5.00 will result in the loss of check-out and computer privileges.

Other fees charged by the library:

Printing & Copies:

B&W:$0.20 per page /  Color: $0.50 per page

Fax - $1.00 per page (cap at $10)

Interlibrary Loan

The Johnson City Library participates in the national interlibrary loan program that permits the library to borrow materials for its patrons from other libraries. The interlibrary loan service is available to all patrons whose record is clear of fines and overdue items.

The Johnson City Library does not charge for interlibrary loan service, however, the patron is responsible for postage fees ($2.00) and any charges or fines imposed by the lending library.
